Anjuna beach is located towards the north of Goa and 18kms from Panaji in a Anjuna village. It is one of the most popular beach in Goa. The place where unusual rock formation overlying a cove of white sand and black rock that juts into the sea, is called Ozran. Hippies in the 60s period discovered the place and became a major haunt of the bohemians Europeans.It has an unusual arrangement of red laterite rocks, spread across the white sands, known as the Jewel of Anjuna or Ozran. Anjuna attracts a variety of tourists and is especially popular among foreign backpackers, especially during the Christmas and New Year season. Anjuna beach is often called as "Freak capital of the world", is quite justified. The white sandy beach is perfectly fringed by coconut palm put a perfect stage for holiday. The sea is calm and suitable for swimming. The sea at Anjuna is particularly safe for bathing, while the soft white sands are great for sun bathing, a favourite activity of the sun-starved European tourists.
How To Reach
The Dabolim airport is the nearest at a distance of 47 kms. The Karmali railway station takes care of the tourists who travel by train. For road transport there are plenty of bus services besides motorcycles and taxis that may be easily hired.
Best Time To Visit
The tourist season in Anjuna starts in early November, when most of the long staying regulars show up. During the Christmas and New Year rush, the village and beach site is busy with a mixed crowd of round the world backpackers and tourists from all over India, attracted by the promise of the big beach parties.

The Alcove
The Alcove, over looking Ozran Vagator Beach, is another worthwhile nightspot to hangout near Anjuna. More mainstream musical entertainment is on offer at Temptations, in the Red Cab Inn just below Starco's crossroads, where Indian classical recitals and guitar based cover bands feature with fire dancers on Mondays.
The Acid House Party
This is the most famous party of Goa, held by and for young tourists. The party not only lure young guns but also flower tourists. The frisking trance party runs all night on the beach besides fire.

Purple Valley Yoga Center
This yoga school offers some drop-in courses in yoga therapy such as Asthanga, Hatha Yoga and Pranayam. The place also teaches meditation from November to April. The long residential courses also available in their institute located 3km east towards Margao.
Anjuna's Sheen Of Silver
The 'freak capital of the world' imparts an ultimate beauty in the form of silvery waves consistently rushing to embrace the golden sand of the waves. All along of the beach, restaurants offer a bewildering eclectic mix of the global cuisines. Shops, stalls and Lamani women sell trinkets from all over India. Even outside the Wednesday Flea Market, there is business.
